Our Founder    始創人

A native from China’s Guangdong, Dr. Eddy C.K. Tong earned his first degree from National Defense Medical Center in Taiwan. In 1957, he furthered his studies at the University of Pennsylvania’s Medical School, specializing on the area of radiology. Upon graduation and over the next 40 years, he worked in New York City, first as a researcher at New York University’s Medical School, and subsequently to practicing his profession, ending as Directors of Radiology Department in several hospitals. Over this period, Eddy taught himself with the traditional Chinese acupuncture techniques. After retirement, Eddy practiced in the China Town in the City, and cured many patients typically considered as incurable from the western medicinal point of view. Dr. Tong also dedicated significant part of his life in establishing the Chinese American Medical Association, and served couple terms as president. CAS current success with members covering across the entire country owed to years of dedication and hard work from Dr. Tong.

At his earlier age, Dr. Tong had been greatly influenced by his mother, Susan Lei, on her charity works to Guangzhou people during the Second World War. With contributions from friends and families, he decided to allocate a portion of his personal wealth to establish the Tongs Charity Organization in 2007, with the main purpose of supporting distressed people especially after the natural disasters.
